The Sustainability Office is proud to present Eco Week 2014! ! This time next month our annual Eco Week will be underway. Eco Week (Sept 15-19) is a festival of events celebrating what you can do for the environment, your community and your life. We’ve got LOADS of exciting events lined up. Here’s a taster about the week:
Go Bananas for Eco Week: 12-2 pm Undercroft

Kakariki Eco Quiz Night: 7pm Bentley’s Bar
Think you know it all? UC Eco Club Kakariki will test your skills in their environmentally themed quiz night. Be in to win at Bentley’s Bar.

Photo Exhibition “What is the real price of bottled water? All day, Undercroft
Matt Goodman, a local photographer/ecowarrior/adventurer who has worked for National Geographic, has taken haunting portraits of UC staff and students to highlight the problem of single-use plastic bottles. Buy a discounted Ecotanka too!

OpSoc are selling second hand clothes, and will show you how to bedazzle them. Learn how to make cushions and cheap and cheerful bunting for your next party.
Two surf fanatics spent nine months of an Arctic winter surfing some of the world’s finest surfing waves surrounded by a beautiful austere landscape, which is becoming more and more polluted by marine debris. North of the Sun won the 2013 Banff Mountain Film Festival Grand Prize and People’s Choice Award.

Waste adventures in Antarctica, 8:15 pm, C3
Daniela Liggett, lecturer for Gateway Antarctica will give a short presentation about the fascinating challenges of managing different kinds of waste in one of the most beautiful, pristine places left on earth – Antarctica.

Food For Students Forum, 12-1pm, The Living Room
A movement is fast growing in Christchurch to make healthy food more accessible to people of all walks of life. We need hear about the key food issues for students. What visions or ideas do students have for food in their communities? FREE LUNCH included!
Edible Campus Tour, 1-2pm
Nom nom nom, what is growing on campus? Did you know you can eat acorns and gingko nuts? Tour sites on campus that feature free, fresh food! Finish at UCs very own Okeover community gardens and celebrate with snacks of home-made pizza, sizzling hot out of our wood-fired pizza oven. Meet your tour guides outside 1894 at 1pm.
